Hi everybody

I have a Friedlander 53 plate 1.8 that seems to missfire at full throttle more noticeable in fifth forth and third full throttle only. When crusing it doesn't seem to do it and runs lovely.

Has got to the point where I daren't overtake as you lose all power and just sit there.

Any suggestions of what I should be looking at? Had a full service 3 weeks ago.

Thanks everyone,

Ash

Fuel filter would be my first guess. Being pump mounted, they never get changed. The design filters the tank contents constantly too.

Cool, Have a look tomorrow thanks for the idea.

When I owned an audi/vw coil packs were probmatic get the best of times.

Is this the same for fuel filters?

The filter just doesn't seem to be changed very often. They are expensive if you have a round pin pump. It's well worth trying first.

It's in the garage as I type this. They seem to think fuel starvation as well. So I've asked them to check the pump and filter.

Just a small update, if I increase to full throttle very slowly it doesn't misfire only when I punch it as such?

It's difficult to test the pump/ filter unless they are able to measure fuel pressure at full throttle? Tbh if the pump is coming out, the filter might as well be changed anyway.
Sometimes the motor can overheat if the filter is very blocked. This is evident by blackening on the motor connections.
