Does your friend not have access to internet? I just checked to get the exact model for the early engines and it was a 2.9 M57.
 
Oh, he is a simple. You should probably give him something shiny to play with before he hurts himself.
 
Will check but sure i read that in last months LRO on their good writeup on buying an L322. I thought the 57 was developed as a version of the popular 51. Maybe wrong.....but wasnt the N series the start of the new straight six line?

Got the same Edition at home - will check....LRO are not known for their accuracy that is for sure!!

I am sure although they may share the same principles inherent to pretty much all BMW Diesels of the same era - they are different engines....
 
Not that different. Whilst the 2.5 hits 60mph in a shade over 4 hours the 3.0 has been known to break the 4 hour barrier. One on board and down wind of course:)

I take it that you have a V8 that does 0 to 60 in less than that depending on how many liners have slipped. :p:p
