Hi

Im just looking for some advice, i have just bought a 2000 disco 2 4.0 V8. It has the 100 ltr tank in the boot.
The external filler and i can see the airbox has been removed to make way for a part on the lpg system and i can see two electrical boxes on the firewall, but no gauge or switch inside to turn on or off. The tank has a broken gauge hanging off it.
I have had LPG on a classic before and it had the switch and gauge on the dashboard, surely this one should?
Any info on finding out what system it is and how it works would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the madhouse!
(Interesting that you bought this before finding all this out!)
Agree about what it should have!
Any makers names on the "doings" under the bonnet, i.e. emulsifier etc?
Any switches near the tank in the boot? Have you followed all the lines from the tank?
Looked under the dash, in the ashtray, glove box, cubby box, i.e. every mad place inside the cab, behind the sun visor?
Does the fuel gauge work?
How do you know which fuel you are driving on?
Any chance of simply ringing or emailing the previous owner? the previous owner for mine, also V8 with lpg, was and probably still would be if I asked him ,very helpful. (Mine has a small petrol tank and 4 underneath lpg tanks, if you get me).
Best of luck

Thanks for the reply,
I will be honest its a £1200 toy/project at that price i took it on face value it will literally do about 2k miles a year as its a second car.
It has many good points.....i think lol.
Not looked at it much just thought i would get some constructive direction before i started. The gauge on the tank is hanging off it says BRC
gas equipment's on it. Will have a really good look for a switch tomorrow inside the cab. Im guessing its on unleaded at the moment as the gauge
goes down pretty fast and needs filling up a lot. There is also a second hand emulsifier in the boot with a tag on it that says 1600 twice. im guessing
its a second hand part that probably needs fitting.
Not got the log book back yet so cant go down that route.
Will get stuck in tomorrow chasing lines and wiring and see what comes up.

Cheers

https://brc.it/en/home/ for who made your's by the looks of it. Think they might be the same as mine. Italians do it a lot.

Funnily, that is only £50 less than I paid for mine two years ago, also for a project but mine is a D1, had a long Mot and was a manual. I also liked the fact it had previously belonged to a welder. The system is very sophisticated but fell at the first hurdle when I tried to get a cert for it to insure it. Not one available, although it had obviously been fitted professionally. Took it to the local LPG specialist who was a bit sniffy about it cos the tanks are a bit rusty. At least he didn't charge me for telling me he couldn't give it a ticket without it being tidied up and being able to read the numbers on the tanks which, obvs, are on the top, i.e. invisible unless I take them off! So it has sat there ever since as due to injuries and being busy and being outa the country half the year, I haven't got round to doing anything else about it. So best of luck!
Wot colour's yours? Mine's a kind of reddish colour. GS, or XS (I think). No leather, or electric seats. Can't remember if it's got aircon. You can tell I've only driven it around a bit!

Wot's an emulsifier?

The Reducer/Vaporisor will more than likely be either a BRC or an OMVL unit..

LPGC in yorkshire is a place worth taking it to for either a proper refit or advice, Simon is the man you want..

Sorry, yeah I wrote "emulsifier" then thought, "is that the right word for it? Shucks, wrong again!
Guess I was thinking of Weber carbs. Too long in the tooth!

No aircon?
Weird! My TD5 2000 W reg GS does have aircon,, cloth seats and hand-wound sunroofs. (5 seats). Thought it was the XS that had no aircon. Maybe you could spec it on first order? Dunno.

The log book won't tell you the spec beyond thing s like numbers of seats,
This will show you what was the basic equipment and what was optional on any model of Disco.https://www.parkers.co.uk/land-rover/discovery/station-wagon-1998/used-review/practicality/
I note that the GS basic doesn't have A/C but it was an option which would explain why mine has it and yours doesn't.;)
