just put the nav unit back in, the red light comes on for a few mins ,flashes then goes off? no sign of audio , nothing on screen, and no computer, im thinking maybe the problem is elsewhere?

wait for the sat nav computer to power down, unplug the connectors at the back.. does the audio system work then ?

ill try that in a bit ive just disconected the battery in a vain attempt at getting some sort of reboot. should audio work with nav unit unplugged? i thought it was also the computer for the whole system?

in the P38, where my exposure is, the sat nav computer runs the sat nav alone.. the cd drive box holds the flash memory and accesses the map database which puts it the signal to the display. with the computer unplugged the audio system works fine. the L322 i'm not too sure about..

is yours the YIB500040 sat nav computer ?

Sound will work with the SAT NAV unplugged, however, I would expect there to be water/corrosion in the other units. It's pretty unlikely they will be dry if the SAT NAV unit is wet.

I would have thought the stereo will still function without the nav drive

does on the P38 and Datatek (yoda) says it does on the L322 too.

however, if the sat nav drive is on the fritz, it can mute the audio system.. hence why trying to get paul to confirm if the audio works with the sat nav drive unplugged...

paul..... your go ...

no audio doesnt work, also just discovered the message center isnt working? is this also discribed as engine managment?
