Loving my Frelander, just a small issue though, when I'm steady doing about 50-55mph I get a sudden drop in power.

Almost feels like the fuel is suddenly cutting out but it's only about a split second then the power comes back.

Just hope it's not something that's going to get worse. Anyone got any suggestions please?

Thank you

Hello again, sorry for delay in replying.

That hesitation or stutter in power is around 2000rpm in 5th gear - that's around the point when I would possibly be easing off the accelerator a bit.

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to check the EGR valve, which should be closed or closing at that revs I think. I'm assuming that as you say there are no mods, that it's still in place, and has not been de-activated.

Take off the 90degree bend turbo hose and shine a torch into the EGR pipe.
Look out for some black oil spillage as you take the hose off.
You may well find that the interior of the EGR is pretty gunged up, and I suspect that the valve may be sticking or stuck in the open position or perhaps slow to close because of the syrupy mix of soot and oil.

If it's dirty (I'm 99% sure it is) clean it all up checking that the valve is fully closed. Easy to take off - four 5mm allan head screws.

You have nothing to lose by doing this - it'll cost only the price of the de-greaser, and even if I'm wrong, the engine will benefit.
