Just bought 2004 Discovery 2 with just 97,000 miles. Wanted something that I could rely on as a long term 2nd vehicle capable of towing my 1900kg tin tent - and so far so good :) In fact I'm well impressed!! Bought it Thursday, and Friday hitched up tin tent and off to Scarborough for Jazz festival, 375 miles and never missed a beat. Great fuel consumption (compared to my 4.4 L322 - which is poorly) and certainly better towing than my P38 DHSE (also poorly). And so I might be a discovery convert, certainly as a 2nd 'reliable' vehicle :)

The Jazz festival was great as well :(

Well i'm thinking of doing the exact opposite and swapping my Disco 2 TD5 for a RR 4.4 Lpg L322! Would you recommend one?

The 4.4 is certainly better (in my opinion) than the diesel on the grounds that the gearbox is stronger. Having said that it needs the gearbox oil and filter changed using only the specified oil - LT71141 - even though it says 'sealed for life'. Mine is not converted yet to lpg (not sure if I will yet). I've had mine 12 months and in that time I've had a new rad and oil cooler (gearbox was over heating) and changed gearbox oil (twice but first time done wrong by a so called expert garage!!!!). Since then I've done 9,000+ miles with no problem until now!! May be fuel pump this time :( You will enjoy the power, it is brutal compared to Discovery :)
There will be plenty giving you negative comments, just buy carefully and with an open mind - not all L322's are troublesome, and the same for discovery 2's
