Why is the locking wheel nut and removal tool made of chocolate ?????

Could that be because a hairdresser cant undo a propper wheel nut? :bolt:

Could be,but they would be mighty fustrated trying to undo the the f**king thing on the the spare wheel carrier thats been on there since gods dog was a pup!!!!!!!!

I just busted my 4 off. They a pile of ****, especially when I don't get the key for the ****ing things!!

someone else made a fuk up of their security then??? i had to machine one from scratch. bloody disaster.

Are the mcguard locking nuts any good for the freelander as they seem similar to the ones i used to have on a ford focus,if not can anybody suggest a decent make as i realy want to get rid of the crappy landrover ones
Dont want to be caught out at the side of the road and not be able to get the nut off as the landrover tool and nut decide to melt in front of my eyes

yip.unless they have a flat waster, then perhaps replace one of them with a cap head or a spline drive, torx ect, at least they arent made of cheese

i had a set that fuked up, well, i lost the key, and couldnt get another for love and money,
so i replaced them with ordinaly nuts, and on the other car i used a cap head to hold on the cover over the nuts. no problems finding another alen key and with a bit of luck some thieveng bar-steward wont come that well prepared... touch wood

When I had my FL1 spare wheel nicked I discovered that there are only a tiny number of patterns and you can buy a whole set of keys for less than the cost of a new wheel. Thieves' charter! Locking spare wheel cover seems a good investment.

I can't see the point in locking wheelnuts to be fair. If some thieving little **** wants them, they will just buy a removal kit. look on eBay for the generic removal tools, you will see it's not worth the money for the locking wheel nuts.
I payed less than £20 for my removal kit, it got all mine off in less than 15 minutes.
I will be getting some standard wheel nuts today to replace the locking ones.

i just hammered a socket onto my locking wheel nuts and took them off and binned them. Did not even damage the socket because the wheel nuts were so soft, then just replaced them with ordinary wheel nuts, All because the crappy release socket was split

LR sell the locking wheel nut socket for £13. The new one is re-enforced so that the 'teeth' don't chew out. I know this as mine got chewed up. They don't like leccy impact wrenches..

The locking wheel nuts and keys are fine unless mullered by people overtightenng them

If yer in the AA or RAC they have a wicked impact tool for removing locking wheel nuts. I carry one onboard my truck too but there aren't that many other subcontractors that do. I also carry rounded nut extractors. I can usually get 99% of locking nuts off vehicles and in around 9 out of 10 instances, with zero damage to the wheel too.

Never use an impact wrench on undamaged lock nuts. They will turn to mush or break, better to use non impact means of removal, i.e. a long bar!
