Hi All,
After noticing that when I put my full beam on the lower section of lights seem to go out,
I posted this http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/stupid-question-243796.html

With no options other than to look at additional lighting,
I posted this about an easy fit light bracket/bar for the front of most vehicles,

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/would-you-purchase-one-how-much-245563.html

The idea was to modify that one to fit 4 lights on it,
after not getting much in the way of a positive response,
I decided not to follow that path, and to try a similar but different idea.

I found this in Australia;

Haggled a bit on the shipping cost and in not very much time at all it was in the front room,
once the rain had stopped I slotted it in behind the number plate,
to see what it looked like before ordering some lights,
if I didn't like it at this point then I hadn't wasted too much money..

So far so good, even the wife likes it, so now the choice of lights,
9" round????
8" round???
7" round??
6" round?

No 5.5" rectangular with the same style lamp guard look as the original lights,

I had seen this picture before;

and wanted to do the same so the choice of lights was decided by that thought and the black covers,
not to mention the low price..
A little imagination work;

Lights came today and this is a picture in the dark,

Not a great picture, but you get the idea,
I will take more once I have worked out how to fit the lower ones in place,
and the daylight is available..

Thanks for looking in, if you got this far well done to you..

Will be like a Christmas tree when its all done, speshly if you get one of the light bars I'm gonna prototype later this week to go up top ;)

It is a possibility mate..
nothing like seeing where your going...

Bottom two will be day light runners + Fog
Higher ones are for the Full beam/lower beam + Spots

Roof ones will be Spots if I go that far..

hiya

i like that idea

funny enough last year i fitted 4 x spot light brackets onto the bumper, but been thinking of putting a single bar across and installing a led lightbar

however since seeing this i like the idea of fitting 2 x into the lower grill and two onto the upper bar

as it would leave 2 brackets spare and i belong to a response group could add two amber lights on the front

but dont want to turn the front to a lighthouse ,

may i ask was the bar very expensive plse , have u still got a link please

thks for the great ideas and really like it

Looks just the job .I've just made a roof bar and put 4 of the rectangular spots on works a treat !!!

hope u dont mind me asking, how did u run ur wires down and i to the car plse

wish to mount a pair of fogs and a pair of driving lights

have been looking into the led cree spot lights as they seem to give out a far better light and taking less voltage

Hi Gary i ran black twin core down the side of the screen fits in a treat then through the gap in the wing and in to the engine bay to 2 relays looks a tidy job just got to use a bit of black silicon under the cable to hold it in place if that makes any sense! Ryan

thks buddy and yep makes sense,

funny enough as mines the 3 door model was thinking if i put spots on the roof to go either through the sunroof or taking out the aerial, install a grommet then running the aerial lead and spot light wiring through the aerial hole, then just move the aerial onto the roof rack etc ,

but also like ur idea and never noticed of that route

actually bought a land rover wiring loom that comes complete with relays etc, the loom is designed for a pair of fogs and a pair of spots ,

also wish to fit an amber light bar on the roof for my response group, have been trying to get ideas in getting it onto the car the neatest way and utilising the 4 x way switch panel ive got

even been toying with the idea of buying another bumper that has the pre cut holes in it for valance fog lights , i know u can cut the holes out but my bumper has got scuffs on it and thought it would be far easier to get one already done, as i could also fit some amber discreet lights behind the grill whilst the bumper is off and fit it all in one go

just cant bloody decide, lolol

Haha know that feeling to well.i fit small amber led lights to some of the machines i work on they work well !

know ive got to have one that shows a 360 degree amber light but was thinking of fitting a pair of small ones front and back

considering like many of the response drivers going out in really bad adverse weather need to make sure i can be seen, but without ruining the look of the hippo in making it a lighthouse

Looks good! The silver looks cool with the silver car, not sure on any other colour car tho! If I didn't have my spots already mounted in front I would go for something like that! How did u attach it to the bumper?

Mike, think it just screws behind the numberplate then the plate mounts back onto the bracket.

As for the 3dr, yeah run the wiring through the seals in the split sunroof, that's what I'll be trying

Not fully mounted it yet,
will go to B&Q Saturday and get some Fat self tappers to fit it, and I need some washers for the light mounting points to top it pulling through the holes, also need to think how to attach the lower ones, as I may as well get them fixings at the same time..

Check my gallery ( i presume everyone can see it) i fitted 2 in the lower grill theres 2 screws ideally located to screw a little plate to or direct mount, i just ran the wires infront of the rad was easy for me as i used an lr spotligbt kit with switch..
