Light please - especially black cars

What annoys me are silver grey cars on motorways when its raining or when you get a lot of spray.
I drive a large van most of the time so only have wing mirrors so when your swapping lanes after overtaking or joining the motorway if they not using their headlights they are really difficult to see, they seem to blend into the spray

Totally agree here, and when it starts to get dark, you tend to look for headlights rather than a car - for instance when changing lanes on the motorway.

I personally drive with my dipped beams on the vast majority of the time.
This is personal choice, but my reason being that more and more cars have DRL's fitted, as such it is becoming 'the norm' to have lights on all the time - so I would rather be just as visible as them.

My golf was made just before they started fitting DRLs to them and does have automatic lights, but I prefer to use my own judgement on when lights are needed!

Auto lights are ok, I have had them in the past. The main problem is that then you get used to not turning the lights on, and they don't turn on in fog.

We had some yesterday and I was amazed at the number of people with no lights at all on.

Agreed, they're probably a good thing for morons who forget to turn them on anyway!

This morning I was driving on the motorway in heavy rain with dipped beam and fog lights due to the spray - but a slow moving audi still pulled in front of me, very very nearly causing an accident, and then stuck his middle finger up when I got on the horn after giving the ABS a workout as I tried not to go into him. No amount of lights will stop some people being idiots

You summed it up when you mentioned the make of the car....

It is a know fact that Audi drivers stick their middle fingers up to everyone. This is not an insult in any way, it is because they wish you to poke your middle finger up their arse....

Unfortunately it's often true, BMW's mainly cut into queues at the last minute rather than sitting in the queue :p I'd love to see statistics on that!!!

Actually I have noticed something about BMW drivers.

Next time one causes you concern, look at the model.

Odd on a crap one, or cooking one.

M3 or M5 not a chance as they are owned by car enthusiasts not badge snobs.

Absolutely, 318D probably.

I'm not slagging off the cars themselves - they're excellent, even with the smaller engines.

Ooh, dear I was waiting for it to come around to BMW drivers, I've got a 330D and an old Series 3 landy, what does that day about me??? :)

Is it a bottom of the range repmobile, or a car an enthusiast would purchase?

That answers your question.

The person I discussed it with owns a BMW coupe
