Hello everyone :) I have a problem with my keys, i think!! I went out this morning and tried to start the car. The ignition went on, dash lights, everything as usual but the car won't turn over. Nothing - Dead! The immobiliser light is staying on so i got out and tried to lock the doors - wouldn't work. I then got the spare key but it's not working either

Do you think i'm just unlucky and both batteries need replaced (i've had the car over 5 years and i've never changed them) or do you think it could be something more sinister
It is a 99 Discovery TD5.
Thanks in advance :)

Can you give me a lift i live 11 miles from the town!

Just asking incase anyone had the problem before and it was something else, obviously i'm going to change the batteries!

if you put your location on your profile you might find there's someone local on here that could drop you off some batteries to you, you may wish to have a CRB check done on them before you tell them where you live

:Dsnigger:D

I've phoned and told the hubby (whos ranting about how he's been telling me to change the batteries for yonks :frusty: )

fingers crossed it's the batteries and i'll take the earbashing and told you so and he'll be right as usual :D

nope never lock it and sometimes the keys are in it too!
yip blonde and not out of a bottle!! :lvlove-029:

anyways, i got the EKA code from Land Rover and its worked fine got the engine started but the key fobs still won't work! so everytime you turn engine off it immobilises again!
Does anyone know how to re-sync the key fob?

ha i know but will you beleve me? put key in door press lock button and turn to lock and back to center/ then open button the same that should do it.

thanks very much, tried it now but it's not worked. think i'm gonna have to get someone out to do it. i can still drive it - just have to do the code everytime i want to start the engine

I booked disco in to landrover today for diagnostic and the remote sensor in the roof is gubbed due to the leak in the roof!!
To get it fixed is gonna cost £282.08 not including labour which will be a full day

Does anyone know if you can buy this part and DIY it say from John Craddock or somewhere, i'm having a look just now but haven't found it yet?

Cheers :)

lmao :hysterically_laughi

yeah i'm using the key just now (or doing ma usual and not locking it!!!)
but everytime i need to use it i have to put the eka code which means standing outside for the 5 minute delay until i can start it. it's freezing cold and ma 3 boys are getting man flu :p

i reckon if i can find where to buy the sensor (and its proper name) i could get it fitted cheaper, then just re-sync the keys. (and then i wouldnae need to drive about in the freelander courtesy car for the day :bounce:)
