got my self a kenlowe fan of ebay cheap. but the wiring diagram it came with (genuine kenlowe) dosen't tell you how to wire a switch in. so was wondering if any one has a simple wiring diagram for the fan which includes a switch. i have done a search but nothing came up. i was going to have a go and fit it tomorrow

many thanks

What do you want the switch to do??
Cut the fan incase you go wading?
Or a simple on off arrangement?
Or override on, Thermostat controlled and Off?
Which do you want?
Jai

You need a seperate switched feed to the fan relay then, so you can turn it on when the fan controller is on or off. Quite easy. And the feed from the thermostat needs to be run back to the cab through a switch and back to the relay so you can isolate the feed to the relay.
I have this set up too.

This might help.
if the switched power is perm live then the fan will run after switchoff, else it will turn off when supply is lost. Diode stops back EMF to warning light. Make sure it is correctly rated for current and Fuse both perm live and switched live.

Please excuse my dodgy diagram. You'd never believe i'm an electrician!
This is how mine is and i have no probs with that. The supply is perm so it carries on cooling even if the engine is off but that is optional.

hang about - most of the kenlowe fans made in the last 5-6 years are 2 speed - so there're isnt an on off switch fitted as standard (it's a good idea to include one so you could switch it off while wading) - all the standard switch does is to switch between normal and turbo fan speed

if you email [email protected] they'll email you back a diagram

but it into simplest form it'll be something like this

does the feed to the switch have to be a ignition feed or can both 12volt supplies come direct from the battery. also where does the kenlowe thermostat go in your diragram. if it is a ignition feed what colour wire is it. thanks for your help mate

the stat goes into the cooling system - either within the top or bottom hose of the rad (everyone has a differing opinion as to which is best)

a more reliable option would be to splice one of the following into the cooling system

X-eng High Performance Off-Road Engineering

it's up to you if you feed it off the ignition - the advantage of not doing so (and feeding it direct from a perm live) is that the fan will continue to rotate when the ignotion is off, assuming the stat thinks the temp is high enough to do so

Guys,
I too am thinking of adding Kenlow fans. Whats the best size for the 110 defender. Is one or two fans better. Would appreciate your responce.

i've been running my 110 300tdi without any fan on for the past 10months without any problems but i've decided to fit a kenlowe now because i tow a trailer and with the summer coming i decided to fit a 16inche fan which i was told was big enough

just finished wiring my kenlowe in following the mad hat man diagram, flicked the switch and it keeps blowning the fuses. check all the connections and all fine but why does it keep blowning.
please help
