i have twin fans off a renault espace on mine and they need a 40 amp fuse as they are very powerful.
I have no diode and i have no problems with a glowing light.
could you not understand my dodgy diagram?
 
GREEN Accessories fused via ignition switch
Green/Brown Switch to reverse lamp
Green/Blue Water termperature gauge to temperature unit
Green/Red Direction indicator switch to left-hand flasher lamps
Green/Purple Stop lamp switch to stop lamps; or stop lamp switch to lamp failure unit
Green/Light Green Hazard flasher unit to hazard pilot lamp; or lamp failure unit to stop lamp bulbs
Green/White Direction indicator switch to right-hand flasher lamps
Green/Yellow Heater motor to switch single speed (or to ‘slow’ on two or three-speed motor)
Green/Black Fuel gauge to fuel tank unit or changeover switch or voltage stabilizer to tank units

there's power getting to the fan because it i'll run for a few second's and then blow the fuse, i'm going to remove the resistor and check all the wire this morning and see if that work's.
 
if it runs for a few seconds and blows the fuse i'd say you need a bigger one. if it runs then your wiring should be correct. if it didnt run and blew the fuse first then there could be a dead short somewhere.
