hi, i'm thinking about fitting a kenlowe fan to my defender 110. i was just wundering how good there and do they improver your mpg. also how difficult are there to fit

I would say they are good, but I would also say they are a bit of a waste of money.

My 90 is fitted with 2 Saab electric fans which have come on about once and it was a very hot day and I was climbing very steep hills in 1st low range, so air flow was minimal.

Yes they will save you fuel.

I would find a good fan from a breakers or ebay and make up a mount for it. Wire it into a little electrostat that will go into your rad and away you go.
 
Hi All - Similar question from me, a Def 110 SW converted to Isuzu 2.8 - I mate gave me a RR P38 twin fan set, which I want to put in my vehicle, at the same time taking out the viscous fan, also adding a thermostatic control as well as a manual override throwugh a switch Can anybody tell me the following:

1. Are the RR P38 twin fans Push or pull, in other words do they go in front of the rad or between rad and engine?

2. Can the be installed in a Defender engine bay at all (they look fantastic too)

3 Has any of you taken the viscous fan out of your Def and has that worked?

Hi mad hat man and thanks for the reply - what should I look for un in the blades - see enclosed picture of the actual fan set. Based on how the fan shrowds and the fixing brackets are, it looks like I can place them behind the rad or in front of the rad, provided the fan area is close to the rad?

Bin running my 200 fanless for just over a year now and it's never gone above half (don't really go below half either cept when it's still warming up!) - once it crept about a nano-dergree above half when i clogged the rad up with mud care of the SLUTS but that was easily remedied! Fans are really for africa.

my old 87 90 td when i put the disco 200tdi in it i fitted a kenlow but the last 2/3 years it had a problem (wireing i think) it only ever went above normal flat out in the summer on a motorway/duel carraigeway

number 1 the fans shoiuld always be installed behind the rad as they need to draw the air thru the rad,my viscous works fine and does the job,

How do you come to that conclusion?
Why do a significant number of cars have a fan on the front of the radiator?

Prividing air passes through a radiator, it will transfer heat from the water to the air. It doesnt matter whether that air is pushed or pulled.
