Hi,
I'm looking at some parts i could get for a 200tdi landy i've seen, and if i was to get it i'd probably get an uprated intercooler from allisport that spans over the front of the radiator. But the problem is that if i did this there would be no room to put a new kenlowe electric fan. Would it make a difference if i put the fan behind the radiator? Or would it be easier to buy a direct replacement intercooler from allisport and putting the fan on the front of the radiator?

Thanks,
Tom

Just get a suck fan instead of a blow fan. Get the type of termostat that goes in your top hose too not one of those cheap kenlowe things tho.

Like someone said though unless its v hot or your doing a lot of low speed high rev stuff you don't actually need one, but I wouldn't risk not having one.

why do people still put the stat in the top hose ?

shirly you need to know the temp coming out of the rad, so if the rad cant cope THEN it turns yer fan on

think we've had this conversation ere before and am still not convinced the top is the right place

yup, i agree with yer tinny, but it goes on the engine side anyway ;)

Why the engine side yella, is it not more efficient blowing than sucking
, or is there no room, I've got one in my garage at the minute off fleebay but can't get the grille off because of my stupid spots so not able to try it yet, but mines a 300tdi, so might be a difference I guess.

And you're right my fans been off for ages and it hasn't even tried to overheat, and that was even when I was stuck in a bog for an hour, waiting on my wife bringing my waffle boards at 7.30 on a sunday morning, never heard the end of that one niether I have.

it's easy to put it on the engine side as it doesnt need the rad moving back - and thats why the kenlowe spins (by default) so that it sucks

I think it will go in but there is not a lot of room between the radiator and the fan pulley, did you fit your's with rubber mounts, if I fit it there it will save me taking the bumper off to get the bastid grille off.

there's more than enuf room on the engine side - i initially used those silly Kenlowe push through fixings which are fine untill you need to replace the rad, or clean it, as they cant be reused - it has been temperarily fixed using zip ties for the last 6 months

Thanks Sean, that's where it's goin then.

ive got an x fan switch, and the instructions it came with agree with sean...put it in the bottom rad hose.

btw sean did u ever get my pm about retrofitted 200tdi and the airfilter location?

oh how did i not see that ? - i'll post some pics in a bit, suppose you got it sorted now ?

i have temporarily, just got a cheap k + n on there at the moment but i would prefer a proper paper filter and have kept the disco and the defender filterbox and some pipework so if you could put some pics up, would be great. see if i can work out how to do it!

cheers
