is this in good or bad condition?

hi all im new to landys so dont know much about them...this one is close to me and i was just wondering if it is worth looking at? from the pics does it look a shed? i dont think it looks too bad?? im not realy into the older landys but i just love the look of this

Thats hugely overpriced...get something with land rover engine or you're in a world of **** when it comes to parts.

In that condition i wouldnt give more than £500 and thats being generous. Loads of series on ebay better than that.

Its a shed. Get a 90. If you really are set on a series then theres loads out there...they are easy and cheap to work on....you can get a lot for a grand and then you've got a few quid left to do what you want to it.

well im looking to buy a bit of a wreck to fettle up into a bit of a weekend toy as i cant afford one as a daily drive at the mo, and i can get the bits for it month by month after i have paid my bills etc!...im not dead set on a series...i just liked the look/style of the vehicle

Well then you are looking to spend a lot less than 1750!! You want to be looking at £750 for a landy with a good chassis...then you can spend a grand on a conversion and all the other bits you mention, paintwork, interior etc..good luck!

If it were a series 3 then you'd struggle selling it, a series 2 is worth more but I think the other chaps are right its well over priced, and it looks as knackered as any unrestored unloved series 2 would be, its probably worth 1/2 of that price.
The 2.8 td is actually a good engine and parts are not hard to get, allthough very expensive, and the power of that engine will rip the box apart, if it allready hasnt done allready.

If you're new to Land Rovers avoid "it needs some bits to finish it off. " They are probabaly the difficult bits he's been putting off.

im a novice to land rovers but not to cars i got my city and guilds level 2 in motor vehicle repair and worked in a garage for a year when i finished college so if its a bit of a bar steward of a job i dont mind! just makes the finished product more satisfying if its been a head scratcher (ball ache!) to get done i have taken on board the lads advice of this thread and have read others and know to keep away from the one in this thread becuase of price/condition etc. also by me flicking through LRO and trawling the internet for landys for sale im getting a better picture of what the going prices are and what are the warning signs to look out for like " it will fly through an MOT but i have not got time to test it because of kids/work commitments" that just means that its realy a bit of a polished turd of a 4X4 and it looks better than what it is and they are realy grabbing bastards who want top whack for somthing that isnt worth the money!! when i aventualy get to see a landy im interested in (i was interested in the one in this thread quite alot :doh: ) i will post it on this site and ask peoples opinions as to if its worth the dosh or not

i paid £200 for my 88" all that needed was a little welding a little paint a little wiring and the air fuel mix on the carb sorting and i paid £250 for my 109 that needed seats rear propshaft bulkhead repairs wiring chassis welding paint door hinge brakes clutch tyres so in conclusion 88" just right 109 way way overpriced.

my 109 was free,i'm so glad i didn't have to pay for it as it's been a money pit.wish i could get motivated to finish it.
