Bought these from the fleabay, to try to brighten up the dingey interior lighting/ courtesy lights. Makes a huge difference. Really bright, and at £2.50 for both, twas a reet bargain. Plus they are plug and play.
Someone else had mentioned these on a build thread but can't remember who it was.
Just fancied sharing this fine morning.
Shame me wheel arches aren't such an easy fix :D

Yup at night they turn the interior into day light or near enough, I've had mine for a couple of years now along with LED strips, covering both footwells in a green light.
Also have LEDs is my door edge and puddle lamps, front side lights and DRLs are also are LEDs.

Day time photos don't do them justice.

I'm liking your lighting Discool! Are your footwell LEDs wired with the courtesy lighting, or on an independent switch?

Yes I tapped in to the front interior lamp supply either side of the existing bulb fitting, the the new LED strips are just wired parallel to that bulb (LED) so when that illuminates so do the under dash lights and then dropped the wire down behind each A pillar cover.
Just using similar thin wire that the LED strips come with.

I have another car the interior lights are blue LED panels with blue strips under the dash, open the door at night and the whole inside is blue.

On the interior light ??

When I shut the doors the light will stay on for a while and then fade out.

Assume with these in when you shut the door they will stay on for a while then just go off cos there LED ??

either way they are sweet..........some on order.

Hi Discool.

have your got details / links of what you ordered for the LED lighting to replace the current bulbs in mu D1. Is there any other kit I would need?

Yours looks great.

Many thanks.

I did an almost complete change to LEDs when I bought my Disco (except indicators and headlights). Makes a huge difference, especially the internal ones.

I did buy red ones for the rear stop/tail, high level stop and rear fogs so that they would show correct behind the lenses. I used CREE LEDs for the reversing lights. You might need to get involved with additional diodes on the stop/tail lights.

Bought all the LEDs from that well known auction website.
Do a search on there for 38mm festoon led for the internal ones and the number plate lights. You should find loads. I chose the ones with 6 leds.
They're a direct replacement.

I don't have links to the ebay supplier I used but the 24LED strips are still on the site and in a few colours, they are flexible and easy stuck in place with contact adhesive, I used my glue gun.

For the boot light, I replaced the fitting for one that uses a festoon Bulb and fitted a LED festoon Bulb IIRC there's around 6 LEDs fitted in this item

Front side light bulbs were just the 5 LED T10 501 style but now there's the brighter GREE bulbs, these are very bright and turned the whole of a D1 head lamp in to a ball of white light, but as I already had LEDs I used them in my company car sidelights.:)

Iv'e used these guys for more recent stuff.

That's about it, :) find something u like the sound of and search for the best price.

Forgot, I also have a LED bulb in the glove box and don't bother with LED number plate bulbs they are to bright and I think look a bit naff with a lot of light over the bumped and onto the ground below..:D

would you know the part numbers for the edge and puddle lights?

Yes :)

They are a RRC part which I fitted back in 1999 and were then available at my local main LR dealer, so prices are 1999 + VAT

PRC8076 Puddle white @ £6.74 each
PRC8077 Edge red @ £6.74 each
PRC4802 Door loom @ £15.37 each

I've seen what are called LED Penny Lights on 'ebay' which come in white and also red and look OK, I haven't a clue on their size though, as the door holes on a DI are already there.

I had to install a new wiring circuit as I had 5w bulbs at the time and as they are non standard for the D1, although there was an option for a single red lamp in the boot door on some markets.
Now with LEDs it's just tap into an interior lamp.:)

The Leds dimn down too just like the filaments-the ecu must be restricting current

I accidently bought the 24 smd ones before then buying the 48 ones, but the discovered that they would fit side by side in the front light, so wired them together and now have 72 leds in the front light, I almost need sunblock for it :)
