Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but it seems to ideal place to remind everyone of my existance. :)

I offer free advise (as far as is possible) on the forum and I would not and do not pressurise anyone into becoming a customer. I am based a mile from the A31 near Ferndown on a farm. Slightly tucked away, but actually very easy to find.

I am able to undertake all work from simple service and MOT to a full build.

Other services include :
  • Engine, gearbox replacement
  • Clutch changes
  • Chassis swaps
  • Cam belt changes
  • K-Series 1.8 engine rebuild/head gasket replacement
'Exotic' work carried out :
  • TD5 and auto gearbox with Compushift install into DLander
  • Comp Safari racer preparation
  • Winch Challenge 90 preparation
New services to be offered by the end of 2009
  • ZF automatic gearbox overhaul/repair
  • MSA approved hand held fire extingushers for motorsport
Much more is in the planning stage so do not hesitate to call and discuss your requirements.

I can vouch fer andy, did a bloody good job on my 300tdi. Even picked it up and brought it back to me for a very very low price :nospamhere: andy deserves a plug for giving such a great service :D

I can't recommend Andy enough, he sorted a fuel and electric problem out on my V8 defender installing new parts and spending a fair amount of time diagnosing the problem. He picked it up and dropped it off and only charged me just over £100 (incl. parts and labour) Very good at keeping me updated on his progress and prompt at getting the work done and returning it back to me.

I'm sticking with Andy to look after both my landys as its great to find a local, honest and reasonably priced mechanic.

I'm not going to go into detail here but I've moved away from using Stunning Services as had a bad experience with him recently.

Andy comes highly recommended.

Is this the right area for advice? I recently bought a Landrover Disco MPI 2LITRE. I know these are underpowered etc but having said that it went straight through it's mot.

However the guy I got it from said he had been told the head gasket is dodgy. However it loses NO water, there is No Mayonaise in the water or oil and it doesn't over heat. I have noticed that there is no thermostat fitted. Also pressure builds up in the expansion bottle to the point where it leaks slightly.

As the thermostat actually resided in one of the rubber piles I was wondering if it could have become dislodged and might be partly blocking the pipe somewhere? Or anything else I should check?

Don't think I will bother.I like to help people if I can. On here it appears to be more of a sniping forum and I there are enough of them around as it is.
