I have a very bad oil leak from a TD5 90 I purchased recently,
Oil is everywhere all over the front of the engine. I am hoping that it is either the crank shaft oil seal or the water pump.

I am new to the TD5 engine I am not sure if the large nut on the cooling fan is left or right hand thread

Any tips how to get this fan off please?

Cheers Les

the big nut is a normal thread,
You can buy a proper spanner to undo them,
But iv allways used a big hammer and a flat screwdriver to undo them

How do you stop it spining round I have already removed the drive belt.
Cheers Les
Put the belt back on! Simples. You will never hold the drive pulley and undo the fan otherwise. You need to shock it loose then undo by hand. I use a slim adjustable and a big hammer.

Check the cam carrier plug on the front of the engine as they often leak when the O ring drys out. Sprays oil everywhere and is an easy fix. Either get a new O ring or clean everything up and use a bead of silicone to seal the plug in place.
