please can someone help me iam looking for a step by step guide on how to change a series wheel bearing...??? i have never done this before

Seeing as I don't have a press, I got spare bearings in the freezer and when the wife ain't looking the hub goes in the oven.

Mine needs a front one doing to pass its MOT. My local Landy Specialist quoted me £100 to supply and fit one.

...this sounded like a decent price to me given all the fannying about.

With a little time for the first one it's an easy job. First one I did took an hour or so, but next one only took about 1/2 hour. with £15 for parts is a lot cheaper to DIY

Careful about being told they need replacing. I've had mine quoted as knacked but just needed the lock nuts undoing and nipping up a bit, bearings themselves were fine. I've always used a chisel to undo the outer nut but not the inner nut as if its not smooth it won't nip up nicely

Can you guarantee they use decent bearings? They probably will use **** part ones which will fail.
Make sure they use decent bearings. Ask langers about cheap bearings.:p

They're good lads at the garage. The mot place won't touch my Landy as he's scared of old diesel death traps so he says what he says and I take it elsewhere.

...it really is sh@t though (my series 3) needs putting out of its misery. But that's half the fun I'm told.
