I am old, 67, I owned a Freelander 2010 with 185K km. I am not a mecanic, but I bought more than 40 cars in my life and I still owned a Jaguar MK2 1967 RHD 3.8, a Fiero 1984 with 3.8SC conversion, a Mercedes C320 break 2003. Since last spring, I cannot lock the doors of my LR2 (Freelander for our American friends) and I have a message stating that the hood is open. I fix it today using Break Cleaner and shooting some liquid on the terminal of it, at the right hand side. And the doors lock again. Do not asks why, I do not have an answer.
Have a nice day

First welcome back to the same zoo you left. Feel free to pickup the tools and carry on where you left.

I had endless trouble with the alarm going off for no reason. It turned out to be the bonnet switch which are relatively cheap and easy to replace. I chose to just link the wiring out disabling the switch as it’s very difficult to get into the bonnet without releasing it from inside the car anyway never had any trouble since.
