Hi and some advice please

Hi to all and thank you all in advance .Looking forward to getting a 4x4 again !
We live in the Southampton area and have a small horse for a dog lol


We have owned a few land rovers in the past ,Range rover 02 plate ,defender 90 05 plate now we are looking to buy a freelander 04 plate . Reason for the choice of the freelander its the only car that has a drop down tailgate window (Hilux surf has one but to dated and the wife thinks it looks like a tank !)

Our dog (Tank) gets car sick o 1 mile into the journey he throws up
So our thinking is if he can stick his head out of the back window it should cure the problem or help we hope ,well thats the plan .
So we are looking for a Freelander 04 onwards upto 6k wish list would be roof bars side steps tow bar . we dont mind 3or 5 door or the cab version .

But what is the best engine 1.8 ,2 petrol etc . We would like the option to tow if we can in the future .

I have heard of the horror stories of the early Freelanders is there any problems with the second stage ones

i would suggest you do a search on here and psssst dont mention the petrol engined freelanders to loudly , there are thousands of threads on here reguarding freelanders and there pitfalls my advise choose carefully , oh and welcome by the way

dont buy a gaylander full stop,there crap..

buy a defender with side sliding windows so your hound can stick is head out of them,and it will be a lot better than a gaylander
