HGF on a TD4??

I was minding my own business yesterday, putting my shopping in the back of my car, a 01 plate TD4, when I felt a tap on my arm. Turns around, and a guy is standing there. I said, "Alright", as you do. He said, " I had one of these, same year same colour. Had to get rid of it....... HGF." I asked him if it was petrol or diesel, he said it was a TD4. Has anyone else had failure in one of these? Now, I know gaskets can fail in any car, but I've not read of many on here that fail in the diesels. I didn't bother asking him if he had problems before with it, whether he maintained it regularly, etc., it was just the 'informed' way he approached me, almost like I should set fire to it right there, that made me chuckle.

He obviously didn't look after it, never heard of a TD4 having HGF, or he did have a petrol lol

not unheard of, but not common.

Not saying it won't ever happen, but take no notice of the cock!
