yep that vid could of been made from under my car lol ,i no my centre one has def gone

will just change that one and check the others :)

well went to landrover today at 1030am and its shut !!!! not open again till after newyear :-( so diff mount not being done today

any how i decided i would sort out the interia front light as that was another thing that does not work

was a easy fix :) took it out the roof, cleaned the connections up and now all working :)

next after reading on the forum was to reset the back door window as when you pressed the button instead of stopping when you released the switch it just went straight down ,now sorted and working fine

next was to loosen the hand brake as the previous owner for some reason fitted a new handbreak cable and set it to only one click so was very tight ,now its three clicks and easy to apply :)

next the drivers and passangers rear windows where not working correctly , after a look at the drivers the cable is snapped :-( so looks like two new cables needed as well aahhhhh

i dont mind fixing all these things i enjoy it biggest prob is being in germany you have top wait ages for parts and pay throw the roof for postage

Hey Griff good to see you putting in the effort and restoring one of these ,i love the freelander too .After reading all the bad press about em i had a huge lump in my throat and a new motor (well to me it is) sitting outside so i have been having fun green laning and a fair share of school runs in it too with no problems up until a few days before Christmas when the IRD decided to pop after fitting my prop back on with a new vcu (was unsure of the vcu history so changed it) which i took of in the summer so i decided to service it and put the prop with new uj's and vcu with bearings on then the problem started ! .I see you have had some serious mini history as have i for the past 30 years which was fun lol .
well i have got another IRD and in the process of servicing that new oil seals and bearings ,hopefully after doing all the rest it will last a while now ,off to fleabay for some oil seals ....:violin:

well where do i start  it started off well

changed the diff mount

was a #### to remove lol (its not oil all over it ,its wd40 :) )

as you can see it was def fu...ed

all back together :) job done  !!!!! NOT :-(

still a strange noise ,but much better than before so back up the ramp and i followed the funny noise and found this :-(

was gutted when i saw this :-(

but after some reading on here hopefully not as bad as i first thought :) seems a common prob

tomorrow looks like im opening the boot floor up lol good job i can and have a welder :-0 :)

Hey griff2,
I had my one with LR in DE to fix the gearbox/ jatco prob (died in DE:(). As tacr2man asked woher du kommst :)? The wires for the windows you could get for about 10-15 euros/each over eBay. The guy who fixed the jatco has a loads of used spares and is a great guy not ripping you off if you 'd want to give him a call. Power steering cost 50-60 euros, 40 for the alternator was ok, I think.
Cheers and good luck
Matthias

well got up early so could go get some steel, drill bits and cutting disks to start the subframe prob

found the inspection hole ,had a quick look ,then tried to undo bolt ,it just spun
so here goes

cut the hole :-(

luckly the bolt held with the grips and out it came to reveal this

yep that def needs sorting
but going to repair from inside the car ,in very near future im going to replace all the rear bushes and paint the subframe so will drop it then and plate from outside as well :) till then im sure this will be fine
quick test fit and tighten bolt

battery off and weld away

all done just a quick rust proof and next weld top plate back over

quick grind and paint and job done :):):):) took 2hrs including getting the parts :):):):):):)

in next few days i will get some black paint and jobs a fish as they say

nice job, but that one has got to be the worst I have seen on my old one, as soon as I heard a strange noise I inspected it and found the chassis cracked a quick weld up was all that was needed

I take it that was the off side front as they seem to go on the point just check the other's as with that one like it was it might have put strain on the others .

right ive had a look online and cant really seem to find the names of the bushes on the front that im going to change to stop this clunking ,im 99% sure the clunk on the front is the drop linls and antiroll bushs that need changing but i may as well change them all i will take a pic of the sup/back of my whell if someone could poss name the bushes from the pic

it has a bush on a bar that runs along the back of the disk  never seen these before on a car can anyone explain what they do just for a interest thing

im woundering seeing how easy it was if its worth saying fu..k it and doing the other side to just incase lol

Doesn`t seem to fail on the left side.
I did what you did and welded in a mahoosive plate.

Despite what MHM says the Freelander is a good well designed vehicle.
]If you look under a toyota of the same year to will see a lot more rust and they are made from bean tins and milk tray liners.

Keep up the good work.

No rust on my 27 year old Toyota MR2:p The underside of some of these Freeladers looks terrible.

it is according to where you live as well for the corrosion , if you live near the sea then there is always salt in the air ,I have to laugh when people go through the surf in the cars and then wonder why they are falling apart
