pmsl i so wish i was i love messing with cars but no im a chef

That`s a blatant lie.

Nobody in the Army has ever passed that course.:D

Anyway good work so far mate.
Hope you have a good range stew on to keep you going.

what a #### of a job !!!!!!!:mad::mad:

well got more or less nothing done ! was late starting as in end could not be assed lol but how the hell should i get this bolt out ???? (the long one that runs behind the brake drum back plate? and once out where wold i get new from as im sure that will not be useable again!!!!)

as you can see its well rusted in !!!
so ive decided to leave all the tie bars or what ever you call them that fit to it till i get the new bolt :mad::mad:

also any ideas apart from heat as i have none how to get the bush you can see on the above pic out ? because of room i cant seem to get anything on it to pull it out as cant get enought space behind it :mad:

so in end after 3 hrs all i really got done was this one bush will do other today then have a look to see if i can get any of thr front ones done

all out ,home made tool lol

all in :):):):):):):):):)
once refitted should make a dif as the old bush was def worn to say the least!!

other side next

well today i wanted to get the bush out of the hub casting (bottom bush)

i had read it was a #### to get out because of access to it with out taking all the hub to pieces ,and i must say they where not wrong :mad::mad::mad: but once i figured out how to get it out it was easy (second side was done in about 10 mins)

i tried my air chisel ,all sorts would not move

so in end i used my head and figured out if i drilled 6 holes in the rubber around the centre tube of the bush ,then hit the centre that would come out so would the rubber ,then just a quick few hits with a well postioned screw driver and hammer the old metal ring falls out ,quick rub round with sand paper and sorted ready for new bush :)

old one

new one fitted

all bolted back up :)

next side ,main bush was fuc..d

all changed

both sides now done ,even with just changing those bushes the car seems to feel better ,so will be spot on when all done :)

at last :):):):):):):) the fu....g bolt is out !!!!!! I throw it as far into the woods as i could as never want to see that bast..d again pmsl

heat alone still would not shift it ,heated it ,smaked it no joy ! drilled a small hole throw it ,heated it,smacked it and out it flew :):):):):):):)

a quick small wire brush throw it to get all the old crap out

i will def def def be greasing the new bolts up very very well ,and keep applying grease monthly !!
but turns out that was the easy part :mad::mad::mad:

getting the old bushes out turned out to be another nightmare of a job !!!!!!

(think i might heat them up tomorrow before putting back on the car to make sure the adjusters are unseized just incase i ever need to adjust them

all in all its taken me nearly a day to get to where i am right now !!!! and still need to do the other side :(:(:(:(:(

well thats one side done :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::):):):):)

made sure its well greased up incase i ever need to remove it again!!!!!

will do next one on thursday when im next off work
(ps why oh why do they have to use stupid size nuts ! all 3 nuts where 18mm ,luckly i have a 18mm socket and spanner but thats a size not ever one will have as most tool kits only have 17 or 19 mm in them )

I should of guest /checked :(:(:(
well cheesed off lol i made a real school boy error when doing the bolt !!!!!!!!

:rolleyes::rolleyes: when heating the bolt it turns out i had caught the cv boot and not realized :(:(:(

now i have cv grease everywhere around back of my wheel !!! and of course to change the cv boot i will have to undo/redo all the ####ing bolts again aahhhhhhhhhhh

its my own fault lol ,good job i love playing but at least i have a few universal rubber boots kicking around the garage

well today i started the next step the front bushes

was a pain in arse getting this out
so cant wait till my press arrives (for next cars bushes or bearings lol)

both sides out and a quick clean up inside to get rid of the white powder that allie makes:mad:

next to fit this in it (looks a very tight fit lol)

(turns out it went in quite easy :):))
next job was the other bush on the wish bone again what a #### to get out :violent:

found that i had a fuc..d track rod end so then had to drill old one out ,again was a #### !

needed to also change the anti roll bar bushes ,seeing all but 2 bolts where out and would make it so much easier to remove the bolts if i dropped the front sub fame that was what i did :)

had sprayed lots of wd40 on the bolts but seeing they where so rusty i was scared to try them incase they snapped ,so a quick heat up with the gas gun ,they came straight out :):):):):):)
new ones fitted :p

while putting back to gether i noticed the **** cover on the back of one of the disks was missing and the other was rusty as hell so off it came

all back together :):):):)

took it for a drive and seems so so so much better :):):):):):)
have taken a quick vid but waiting for it to up load ,its of the lower engine/gear box mount ,it seems fuc..d in my opion but will post it and see what you all think

still have drivers side rear bushes to do today :-( not looking forward to the long bolt from hell :-( last one took me ages also from hammering the steel ring out of the other bushes i have snapped all my screw drivers :-( so today before i start im going to build myself a press out of some scrap metal i have so hopefully when the arms are off i can just press the old bushes out !!! time will tell lol

well what a waste of a day :violent::mad:
dug out some old scrap

thats the base made lol

frame made ,added a slider for the jack to sit on /adjust spacing for dif sizes and jobs a good one :):):):)

jacked car up to start ,took one look at the bolt and decided i could not be assed with it today lol
so instead i thought i would hook/wire this in

but after looking for ages ,taking thing apart looking for a acces hole ie the windscreen scuttle thing which i broke the ####ing clips :mad::mad:
half the dash ,the wing panel
but still the only hole i can find in the bulkhead is where the main loom goes to the engine fuse box where of course theres no room to add more wires esp thick ones like mine !!!
where do you guys thread them? or do you run them under the car ,then up throw a boby/floor grommet ?

went out today to tackle the drivers side rear ,been putting it off because of the long bolt from hell

as it happens bolt was out within 15mins of jacking the car up so was well happy (now i no how to do it lol the first one was a nightmare )

any way while doing it i decided i may as well get the heat on the adjuster seeing i think the car will need tracking up ,and i assume these are the rear tracking adjusters lol

took alot of heat to get the nuts moving !!! i maked it all up before loosing the nut to ensure both nuts returned to the same place they started from

soaked them with loads of wd40 now spin very easy with fingers ,tightened them all back up ,and covered in grease to ensure they not seized up again ,so when i take it to the garage if they try and say oooohhhhhhhhhhhh big big job that costa lots of £££££££s i can tell them to get fu...d lol

all done thats both sides all free and easy to adjust :):):):)

well thats all bushes on the car replaced with up rated ones , new lower ball joints ,all nuts locktighted on ,both long bolts greased up to hell for easy removal at a later date

and apart from my time total cost is £130 , which to be honest i think is spot on
:):):):):):)

wounder how much that would of all cost me at a garage ,just for labout never mind parts

what do you reckon it would of cost for all that doing at a garage ?????

well today i THOUGHT would be the day i did my fuel cradle !!!

i was so so wrong lol

went out had a look under the car at what was the best way to tackle this,i decided to drop the entire rear subframe in a oner so i could then take the fuel cradle off easly while still supporting it to the car !

jesus its rusty !!!! its very strange seems like there is no under seal on the car from around the 3/4 part of the car apart from the fish tank boot part !!!

anyway never took any notice of much while dropping the frame as was thinking more about the fuel cradle, making the plates for it and that i would need to repaint the cradle and paint lots of waxanol around the back underneath of the car

when i noticed this !!!!!!!:eek::violent::eek:

its the front drivers side !!! (i no its a common fault) i had already repaired the cracking subframe from the top by cutting the floor a mnth or two ago ,but was not expecting to see a hole like that !!!! its that big because some #### before i had the car in stead of fixing the problem just tried to weld the subframe to the chassis !!! what a ####!!!!!

anyway got ruth shape of what needed to be cut out ,back to solid steel

out came the rust lol

have some steel same thickness as chassis ,luckly :)

plate being made

was just about to weld new plate in when the ####i.g skies opened :(:(:(:(

so car is now left like this

THINK THIS CAR IS TURNING INTO A BUILD DAIRY PMSL ,FIX ONE THING AND TEN MORE APPEAR !!!its a good job i like playing and of course can weld

WOW WHAT A DAY!!!

lots of pics !!

started off welding the new chassis plate in ,what a pain in the ass that was ,i hate welding upside down :-( i can never seem to weld very neat upside down pmsl

got the good old waxonol out and gave all areas on the back end a good painting

NEXT PROBLEM i wanted to put the rear subframe back up to test fit /make sure i had not ####ed up on my measuring/drill work BUT if i did that i could not drop the fuel tank to repair the cradle which i had wanted to do in the first place !!!

so i thought if its wrong its wrong lol will just have to redo after the cradle
anyway the cradle !!!! wow how my tank has never fell off is beyond me:violent::violent::violent:

as you can see one side has totaly gone the other side is as rotten as a pair and the little bracket that runs down the middle is also snapped !!!

now to brake it down and see whats repairable :confused:

got the wire brush on the drill and did the frame work ,next the easyest part to make a plate from the rotten half

now the missing one ,had to think how to make this one as nothing to copy :(
in the end i draw round the rubber thing then worked out from the rust marks on it the rought shape/size i needed

had see somewhere that this one should have drain holes in it so drilled some and welded it to the frame

then the other side

(wow is sort of looking like a cradle again :):) and its plates are made out of the same gauge i used for the chassis so very strong :) )

all done just need to paint and hopefully it fits as had to guess the shapes

all done and fitted :):):) im well happy with it :):) should last longer than the car pmsl

next to refit the rear subframe !!! and yes :):):):):):):) it all fits spot on !!!
jacked the frame up and it all lined up and went in like a glove :):):)

so now that repair has a 3mm plate fitted from above and a repaired chassis with a 2mm plate on the bottom ,dont think i will have anymore problems with that :):):):)
so all in all ive had a pretty good day !
