you dont need blanking plate but its worth changing ird oil looks like youve found the grinding in vcu support bearing and clunking in diff

You can do a similar test on the vcu on a bench, to the one wheel up test. Slide the 2x props on the vcu. Clamp 1 prop stationary. Put a long screw driver through the uj on the other end of the vcu. Put a weight on the screw driver and watch it turn 45 degrees to horizontal. Time will be different to the one wheel up test on a Freelander. It's still a good indication.
