When cranking does it sound like there is any compression?

Never suggested changing any parts, simply how is it cranking.
Also we don't know the full history.

as Shippers says modern autos have individual ecus, prob not a compression fault!!
Allegedly the ecu is in the gearbox, and is coded to the vehicle
If you have the original box they can be changed,
Didn't watch the full video but hopefully can be changed in situ.

Hi already checked no ECU in gearbox, had a friend come look and listen while it was turned over and he says timings jumped and did I turn the flywheel the wrong way,I believe I did turn flywheel wrong way when tightening the torque converter up so checking timing tomorrow fingers crossed

No history with car apart from it drove in but was in gearbox fault mode and only driving in 5th gear so fitted new box
Had a friend look today who's pretty clued up he said because it was stood for a few weeks while waiting for box the oil would have left the timing chain tensioner cause slack chain and when I turned the flywheel the wrong way when tightening up the torque converter it knocked the timing out so I'm removing rockers etc tomorrow to check timing.

Oh Crap, time it up, remove the plugs and do a compression test on the cylinders. Any difference between and you've got your answers. Right each reading down. I hope it survived

Only just found the time to have a tinker with it, ive timed it up but didn't want to try to start it due to the lower chain tensioner that goes threw side of head seems to be broken, not sure if it is or not but it's in two pieces and has a spring inside, are they supposed to lock together or is this how they are...I've currently just popped spring inside and it it together and lock it with a pin. Don't fancy shelling out 50 quid on another.
