IMO the amp needs to be bypassed so not required.

EDIT: DSP amp needs to be bypassed. Looks like power amp can still be used.

How do you bypass the amp?

This is getting complicated now.
Forget what I said about amp bypass. More research material below. Is your amp getting the turn on signal from the head unit? This desciption says it may need 12v taking from the aerial turn on connection of the new head unit.

Power amplifier.
Some cars have a power amplifier, these amplifiers are switched on by a +12V turn on signal, this is the same signal as the antenna turn on. The amplifier receives a normal audio signal from the basic head unit or tuner radio module and then drives the speakers in the car. Cars with the power amplifier will have single speakers in the rear doors, three way component speakers (low, mid and tweeters) in the front doors and a centre speaker on the dashboard. The centre speaker is bridged between the front door mid range speakers.

The water in the boot round the entertainment system is standard feature JLR`s answer is a sheet of plastic that goes behind the electric bits
check all the connectors and clean them with an electrical contact cleaner NOT WD40, and a small needle file.

That’s exactly the set up I have, I’ve checked the power from the white cable on the wiring loom from the amp and it’s live but now think the amp is dead. I’ve unplugged the amp and the connectors were badly corroded and white powder coming from the amp. I’d say there’s been water in there at some point although it’s been dry since I’ve owned the car. I’ve ordered another amp and am hoping I can swap it out.
