OK,
I'm no mechanic at all so I hope its called a drive shaft! I'm asking this question because I'd like to save money at the garage by already telling them what's wrong so I can phone round for best price, or I do do some easy mechanics so better still do it myself.

Anyway, the (correct if I'm wrong) driveshaft is connected to the engine on the other side to the wheel/rotor.
I believe the CV is connected to the side closest to the wheel.
The other side has popped out the engine. It wobbles a lot. I can see how it would just pop back in but I have no idea how to get it back in as I can't 'stretch lol' the drive shaft.
How do I get it back in? I can stand the clonking noise, I need it for work so will it be OK just for tomorrow?
Can anyone tell me a fix?
Thank you!

The LH driveshaft goes from the LH wheel hub to the gearbox. The RH driveshaft goes from the RH wheel hub to the IRD (front diff).

They are splined and do compress stretch as the car's suspension goes up and down. You should be able just to push it back in. There may be a clip that holds it in that his missing. Very strange it has just 'popped out'.

As your car stands all front drive will be going to the disconnected wheel - so so have no front traction. All drive ill be going through the IRD to the back axle. If you've been driving it like this for a while, I beleive you will almost definitely have screwed your VCU - so it will need to be replaced, or the props revomed, if you sort your front drive shaft out.

I'd guess that the gearbox link has broken. This is a small splined tube that replaces the front diff when the gearbox is used in the Freelander. It's a common failure and the weakest part of the drive train.
