evening folks, my cousin has just joined this forum (Schlongers).....:welcome2:

Thought I would start this thread as we need help on his 95 N reg Disco 300Tdi

Before the summer we had to replace the bottom crankshaft pulley as it was knackered and rattling as it came away from its base. We tried everything to remove the crankshaft bolt but it was stuck fast....

As he works at RAF Benson (Oxford) we managed to use some BIG machinery, we had to use the biggest ratchet gun you'd ever see to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt. we put the locking pins in the flywheel and the injector pump and then set at the crankshaft pulley bolt. After 30 mins at it, the bolt finally came loose, we fit the new pulley then took the locking pins out etc and fired her up.....

:) Good news............. no noise from the pulley....
 Bad news............. the locking pin in the injector pump had cracked the injector pump casing when we are at the pulley with the air ratchet and when it runs it pi$$es diesel out throughout the cambelt casing.

So we towed it back to his house and there it has stayed. we now need to fix it as he is moving bases soon and he has decided to sell it due to not using it (even before the pump incident)

Option 1) replace the engine
Option 2) replace the injector pump (and we will need help resetting the timimg as the timing marks have faded)
Option 3) sell it as it is (obviously collection only.......)
Option 4) repair pump / replace enginer and then sell it

As Im near Leeds and he's in Oxford its a bit far to travel me and my tools.......... So.. is there anyone local to RAF benson who could help (beer tokens and copious amounts of tea and biccies will be supplied) or recommend a garage that could do the work.

Sorry for rambling on..... My Cousin will pick up on this thread and hopefully upload some photos of the Disco so you can see what we mean and hopefully sell it ...

cant believe to tried to hold engine from turning using timing pins,if you where using air gun you could hold it by hand ,using air rachette no more point than breaker bar, just get another used pump and fit it on,timing mark on cam cant fade crank and pump are on pins as you know undo 3 bolts on pump flange to swap pump not big nut otherwise timing will be lost

Nice one Jai,
Here's the old beast!
It's got the Camel cut with oversize wheels, an electric winch with cable remote but no cd player:(
Selling it is the only option really as we may be jetting off to sunnier climes in the New Year so it's whether to replace inj pump or get a bare/complete engine and swap it out...
Any help will be greatly appreciated, the missus bakes awesome muffins too (to go with the endless cuppas :)

Nah sorry would rather keep as a spare. But would be interested in £75 as they go for £100 on eBay and if mine goes it won't bother me so much paying a little extra.
