Pete, recently I managed to break two of those trying to refit them. I found spares on ebay. However rather than keep breaking them I cleaned the fork seat and pushrod ball end and stuck it in place with a dab of silkaflex and supported the rod overnight on a rag while it cured. Slave fitted fine the next day.

Lots of various forum posts by those who say the clip is only there for slave refitting and bleeding. It isn't necessary afterwards. If it were it would be much more substantial.

Pete I have one I didn't try and fit going spare. See if you can Pm me your address and I'll Wang it in the post to you tomorrow.

On it's way Pete. BTW, my local landy garage install them using v long nosed crank-ended needle-nose pliers. Lightly pinching together the locking clips as the clip is pushed against the fork. Im guessing using a short length of pipe slipped over the pushrod.

You may want to warm the clip up in some boiling water first to make the tabs more pliable - they dont like brute force when cold....as i have found...

as jamesmartin says, you dont necessarily need to stick the pushrod to the fork, but when I tried the hold-in-place-and-slip-the-slave-cylinder-over technique I obviously mis-located the pushrod as after bleeding and testing the pedal there was a clank and a cylinder full of DOT4 dripping out of the bell housing drain hole :( I wanted to make sure the next time.
