All the threads on the web on hedman hedders etc and not a single one of them tells you the stock manifold bolts are too long..

Tightened the 16th and last bolt after wrestling with the nearside header for 20 mins trying to get it in place and realised these bolts are too long.

What a f*ck up, off they came, 3 threads chopped off of each and back on they went, just waiting for my clothes to dry so i can put the last bastard bolt in, terrential downpour got too much in the end.

All my exhaust paste has dried so they will probably blow like a £10 prossie.

Anyway, thats what ive been doing since 12am. At least the exhaust bolts are nice and clean and can come off easy now whenever needed.

Why didn't you just use the standard seals ? they're only 14p each :p

You mean the manifold gaskets?

Well i phoned LR Centre in Speke, either the lad didnt have a f*cking clue what he was doing or they really do want £35 for 8 gaskets..

He only had 4 in stock anyway, so i had to carefully clean the old ones and coat them in paste.

I couldnt wait till next week for a set of gaskets, yeh £3 on ebay for a set of 8.

But with the headers sitting there, crying to go on the car, i just couldnt say no.

Bargain! If you work at a LR Centre, your meant to know about Land Rovers..

Bloody Ameaturs. Anyway, clothes are dry now, time to get wet.

I believe one is supposed to use head studs and brass nuts with these headers, certainly they are recommended(supplied, I believe) with the Ashley offering.

Well i got the manifolds fitted nicely, then comes another problem. The damn Y piece provided is fouling the crossmember, I had to pick the missus up and the kids with open headers, half ten at night. If today wasnt bad enough, **** farting about getting those hedmans to fit properly, not being able to fit the Y piece, then i get it down the earhole bigtime from her because im giving the disco some wellie, i hate the bitch... Anyway, i need to do something about the noise.. I have my standard midbox which would mate to the other end of the Y section for the time being but the crossmember is preventing me going any further.. The Y section seems different from my cats, its as if it would fit no problem if the crossmember wasnt there....

Im stumped and i need a solution fast..

Just eating me soup then im going to bed, shes sent me over the edge.

All 16 bolts are tight. I can still fit the Y section with them being tight, its a ball and socket type.

Haha! The open headers made me smile, which made her frown, thats life.

its usually bbest not to tighten any up till it all fits ,did you get the right system ?

some pics would help.. also if she dont like v8's... ditch the bitch :D

I will get some pics on tomorrow, the Y piece is a homemade crude thing, It does the job nevertheless, but i think its been on something else, maybe something with a straight gearbox crossmember, whereas mine bends upwards to allow the y pipes to go underneath it.

She dont like nuffin. Shes a boring bastard.
