Neighbours heater on his TD4 is not sparking up as much as it should , been told it’s a stuck open thermostat , now with the time of year etc etc , he’s asking if there is an after market heater you can plug into the 12V socket ?

If anyone has bought a heater to heat up the cab , do please share what was bought so that I can advise old Harry , unfortunately Harry does not use PC’s etc so am posing on his behalf.

I wouldn't have thought the cigar/aux socket was rated high enough to power any heater that would make a differance.

I'd have thought it better to ensure the coolant is topped up and to install the froggie thermostat mod. Is it a Purgeot or Renault stat that people fit into the hose? A search on here will find it.

In a word, no. At least not a heater that will heat the whole vehicle.
The Freelander heater matrix is rated at about 3kW, the most you can pull from a power socket is 120 Watts, so no it's not going to be effective.
It's easy to install a Renault 4/5 in line thermostat in the top hose, which is the easiest way to get the engine to running temperature.

When you mean the top hose , do you have an image showing the top hose or a video showing the modification ?
