How does the heated seat element work in the D2?
I set off for work at 05:00 this morning and despite the promise of a warm sunny day the leather was a little chilly on my behind so I decided to give my heated seat a go for the first time.... my left arse cheek and leg were lovely and warm in no time however my right cheek and leg were left cold....

Are there two elements? One on each side? I’m guessing so. Is there two fuses per seat? I can only see one (F15 in the interior box) marked ‘heated seats’. How easy is it to replace the elements?

Yes, there are two elements. No, they are not side by side, so it it appears that the seat pad ‘element track’ has broken.
The heat elements are replaceable, “how easy is it to replace the element” depends on your skills... it’s just elementary :)

The heater element can't slip sideway cos it has some holes passed by metal rings which are holding the cover to the seat base, IMO as @discool said the element's tracks are interrupted on the non working side, it's no ''shortcut'' to get to the heating pad, you have to remove the seat and then remove the cover by removing the trim and unclipping those steel hog rings one by one... not very hard physically but time and nerv eating job

i fitted universal heating pads and used cable ties instead of those frigging steel rings and i'm pleased with the result

the whole ''official'' procedure is described in the workshop manual
