sounds expensive :(

I just ordered panels for the boot floor to get through my MOT in august, just hope I dont find anything else :/ just spent just over 400 quid on bits n pieces whilst ordering the panels as well as a new snorkel

Its not always doom and gloom at MOT time, prepare well before hand and make sure all your lights etc work, fluid in the washers etc, that way you wont fail on anything silly.

I even plug all the rear seat belts into the retainers and I am sure they never get undone as it always comes back like it.

I clean any oily dirty areas with a pressure washer so the mot man won’t get smothered in muck. Make sure your vehicle is presented clean and tidy and I am sure they don’t look so hard for something to fail it on if it looks like it’s well maintained.

Saying all that I still expected mine to fail last year just because it was a Disco and there must be something that I missed, but it sailed through apart from one advisory saying corrosion had started on the inner wings but it was not structural as of yet. So for the next MOT I will make sure that is taken care of.

If it makes you feel better we are worse off here in nz, it's wofs every 6 months here and if welding is deemed structural by the tester the job has to be "certified" afterwards And before it will pass a retest and by someone qualified to certify all of which costs lots if dollars and the certifier may also insist on a qualified welder before he will sign it off so you cannot do the work yourself and there is no way around it ....once it's in the computer system as being failed for something needing certifying one has to pay the dollars to get the certificate which usually makes older cars not worth repairing even for relatively easy repair jobs...

One good thing at the retest they only test the things it failed on as long as that was not more than a month ago and not the whole test again, and most retests are free.
