Glow plugs

Morning all,

I've noticed my glow plug light doesnt come on the dash anymore aside from a duff bulb how can i check them ?

To check for power, Connect up a voltmeter and then turn the ignition on to see if it's getting a live feed.

To see if the glow plugs themselves are working, take em out and connect a negative jump lead to the body of the glow plug and then attach the other end to your vehicle battery.

Connect the positive jump lead to your battery and then hold it to the small connection on the top of the glow plug.

If it glows cherry red it's good. If it doesn't glow or only glows away from the tip, it's knackered.

WARNING: DO NOT HOLD THE GLOW PLUG WITH YOUR HANDS. HOLD IT BY THE EARTH JUMP LEAD AND THEN LEAVE THE PLUG TO COOL DOWN BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO PICK IT UP.
