Hi All,

Just joined today after buying my second Disco (many years apart. My first one was 15 years ago and was a 300TDI) Anyway I bought a very good condition 7 seater 2001 Model Discovery 2 ES today. When I opened the rear door I noticed that the left hand 3rd row seat does not sit in a recess. It is proud. Interestingly enough there is no recess there. Just wondering if anyone could tell me why this one is different to many other discovery 2 seven seaters I have seen before. I will try an attach the pic. (New to forum life so will give it a go).

That's original LR factory fitted they changed em on the D2 from side facing to forwards facing. YU Muppet!! :p :p:blah:

Thats what I thought initially, I saw a couple of Disco 2 over the past week. All 7 seaters, with the forward facing seats. the seats seemed more tucked in on both sides. Much like the seat in mine on the right. I suppose what I really want to know is why the left one is so proud from the side?

Here you are found a picture of a Disco 2 with the seat on the left a little more tucked in.

Thats just it, there is no recess on the left. The plastics cover that entire section almost as if something is in there. There are no openings latches its a solid piece, very strange. Thus the post....I am confused.

its strange, I checked her book she is UK registered, one owner all UK. When its light tomorrow I will take a better picture of the left had side. May even pop around to the local Landy show from and ask. They're a friendly bunch in there. One of the reasons Ive gone back to the Disco is for diving (me not the car) and that proud seat does take up a fair bit of room.

CD mutiplayer is under the front seat. Could be an amp (bloody big one). Strange place to put it if it is and essentially ruin a nice wide loadspace.

Its probably a rear air con model, but should still lock out of the way, but not as far in as left hand side. The rear air con units were fitted on the right hand side.

Yep it does have rear air con. I pressed the button whilst playing in the back seat and almost blew my head off. Well thanks all that really helps. At least I now know what it is. Picked her up today after seeing her on Monday. Full spec ES model full leather trim all the extra's and one previous owner and every thing works, except the front sunroof, uyou press the open button and she flips up but on the second press won't open. Probably something blocking it. Will look into that this weekend.. Other than a cracked rear tail light (still working) and some small paint jobs I need to do on the door corner she is in brilliant condition.

Front sunroof motor probably shagged, mine was siezed due to water ingress, freed it out but not strong enough to do the 2nd stage like yours, tried rear motor on front & worked it ok,so is definately the motor in mine.
