Front Wipers Fault

Right, a fairly critical issue I think!

What has been happening is that my front windscreen wipers decide by themselves when they want to work and when they can't be bothered! Quite often I'll be driving in rain with no problems, then suddenly the front wipers wont work no matter what position the stalk is at. However, at the same time both the washers and rear windscreen wiper never fail to work. Also when I do use the washers at that time, the wipers won't work with them like they should... I hope this makes sense. Wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be, the motors are obviously fine which is the main thing, but could there be water ingress somewhere causing them to be intermittent only when it rains? Obviously I don't know if they are intermittent when it's dry as I don't use them!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Do you have Rain Sensing wipers - Mine are, and they have odd behaviour - sometimes working and sometimes you have to 'Do it yourself'....

I'd imagine it could be the stalk at fault - if you are handy with a multimeter and can read the circuit diagrams, you could disconnect the multiplug and check the stalk switch functions correctly....

If that checks out, check for wiring security to the wiper motor....

Hi, Mine used to do this occasionally. If the wipers have been running for a few hours they would just suddenly stop. Leaving them 5 mins and they would start again.. very worrying. I changed the wiper relay and they have been fine since. Hope it helps.
