Front door hinges!

Hi everyone,

My front passenger door has dropped and now flaps about. It got more and more difficult to close and the catch shows massive signs of ware. It's not got stupid hard to lock/unlock or even open once shut. I have to lift it every time I have to shut it.

I did a search but everything I found was at least a few years old and I'm sure things have moved on.

Iv got a 1989 110 CSW, so do I need new hinges and I'd so any recommendations on a set or can these be serviced/adjusted?

Not expensive, but be aware 2 types depending on model year

I got a quote from local LR specialist today for front door hinges. £7 something each. Can't remember the pence

Just got the cheap set from Paddocks......just as bad as the 19 year old ones i have

I did the same thing a few months ago and ended up putting the old ones back on .

What happened with the new ones?

I used em on the door for the pheasant pen lol

Had one Britpart pair which wouldn't hinge at all - the 2 halves were absolutely solid!

2nd set i got were better - can't remember of the top of my head who manufactured those ones, but they weren't OEM

Knock or drill the pin out and replace it with a new Sellock pin.

You might have to increase the size of the hole through the middle bit if you need to sleeve it prior to reassembly.

I have been known to drill out to take a short piece of copper or stainless pipe, which can then be reamed out to suit the size of the 5/16" pin. Araldite can be used for the top and bottom holes.

Cheapskate? Me? Too bloody true ... and my repaired hinges work!!

Got mine (Later style) as a 2 door set from LR in Liverpool came complete with door shims, a-post gaskets, New style passivated bolts, everything you need to fit them and am really pleased with the quality, far better than the £7 items I see all the time on ebay..., Phil

I think the were £54 but that included everything to fit them, even the little 'O' rings to stop water tracking along the bolt through the door, I think they do a set for the 4 dr too.
Rather than just ordering from their website I would give them a ring, al the guys are very helpful and have wicked senses of humour...

will the later type hinges fit on earlier 110s?

just bought a pair of middle row puma doors complete with hinges that I want to fit to my 1987 110.
