Hi guys having a problem closing my drivers door I think it may be the latch in the door because a week or so ago my door wouldn’t shut it would just bounce back but luckily it shut when it was locked? When I got home from that episode blasted the latch in wd 40 and through the lock and it’s ok now but not great, anything I can check before I replace the latch? When using a screw driver to mimic the door striker it works perfectly fine when the door is locked but it can take from 1 to a few goes before the latch clicks back

Thanks guys, I’ve already replaced the hinges and door latch striker, the door closes lovely if I lock it before closing the door?

It doe's seem like an issue with the latch, try getting some actual oil into it rater than WD which evaporates away.
If you have to replace get a qualityo_O OEM part .It is a fair bit of work to replace what with removal of the door card ect and you won't want to be doing this again. You guess how I know this.

Thanks mate, I’ll probably pay my lovely mechanic to do this as I haven’t any means of locking the landy under cover overnight which means I’d be doing that job in a rush and worrying if I can get it done in time before the sun goes down

Thanks for your suggestion to use proper oil and not wd40, I have just been out with a diesel/oil mixture and spent about 15 mins working the latch in and spraying more in and out now it’s working like a beauty (for now)

It’s back to its old self again, the diesel and oil trick did work for a while, did it again worked a bit better. Any advantage to taking the door card off and having a look?

latch internals, check the rods are not bent....

PS use ceramic grease for door lock latches and graphine powder for key locks / barrells.

NEVER oil a key lock, unless you want it furred up with dust n sheet withing a month.
