Underneath my TD5 recently checking the waxoyl treatment and noticed corrosion on tubular cross member beneath radiator which I seemed to have missed! Further examination revealed severe corrossion and replacement needed removal initially seemed to require just four bolts to undo but the heads are hidden away inside the chassis and quite a bit of stripping appears to be needed Has anybody tackled this problem before as advice would be appreciated
Many Thanks

You can get at the bolt ends from underneath and once the covers are removed. Two people job, most arms are not long enough or flexible enough. Take the front grille off, that gets you enough access for the inside.

I took mine out when I fitted a front towbar.

There were new winch crossmembers on ebay a while back for £19, genuine LR that fit inside the chassis, or the tubular one was still available. I think the standard one is about £60 or so.

Many thanks for info Been quoted £80 for x member and between 1 & 2 hours fitting at local Land Rover dealer which seems reasonable Depending on weather next month will decide whether to fit it myself or get them to do it
Thanks
