Hi
There has been a lot of talk about using Veg oil in place of Deisel in your cars recently on the news.
I would like to know if my 1999 Freelander XDI would run on Veg Oil and if so would I need to do any modifications to the Engine?

Or can I just fill up with Bio Diesel without any modifications?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

100% Biodiesel

In which case you are not talking about veg oil at all. Well you are.. but some people use store bought cooking oil. That biodiesel stuff looks alright, a lot cheaper than doosil. as was just said just change yer filters to begin with, then change them a tad more often therein.

Thats great
we have found someone not to far from us that sells it at £1.15 per litre.

Just 2 more questions please.

1. If I am doing about 7000 miles a year how often should I change the fuel filter?

2. Is it best to mix it say 80% Biodiesel & 20% Normal Diesel?

100% bio is ok without having to mix it! filter change after about 500miles, then 1000miles, after that should be ok at normal change intervals!

What about if I also put in a cheap £2 disposable clear plastic fuel filter before it reaches the main filter?

That way I can see if it is blocked and just change it for another one.
That would be cheaper than changing the main one?
Or is it not advisable?

Thanks for your help.

Paul

That's exactly what i've done with mine (on 85/15 veg/dieso), just make sure you get the largest one available so you still get the flow rate.

I've not had any problems. Fitted mine by cutting the hose that feeds into the filter and putting it inline there.
