Hi I have recently bought my first Land Rover and I love it. It’s a Freelander 1. I have bought a Hainz manual and downloaded the workshop manual because I want to learn everything there is to learn about repairing and maintaining it.
I have a question. It seems that my Freelander is an awkward age and I cannot tell if I have the right manual and I cannot even tell what tyre pressures I should have as everything says “upto 2003” and “from 2003”. Mi e is a 53. Is their a definitive way of telling wether I am in the upto or from 2003 Freelander and also wether I have the right manual.
Also any and all links to learning material would be hugely appreciated.

I think pre facelift is upto 2003 and
Facelift is from 2003 the facelift bumpers are a different design to early models
 
Don’t you need the new trim to be facelift model?

To learn everything that's not in the Haynes, download RAVE.

The two versions of Owners Handbook in RAVE saya different tyre pressures. I normally set the wife's 2005 TD4 to 30psi all round.

That would surely make mine one of the last pre-facelift models as I’m a 53. I have just checked now and according to the v5 mine was first registered 02/09/2003.
 
I have both of the Freelander manuals and after a bit of digging I found that in the older of the two (the red one) it states “Does NOT cover new range introduced September 2003” and as my car was registered 2nd September then I take it that I am classed as “from 2003” if that makes sense.

30 PSI all round is the correct pressure for factory tyres (normally Goodyear Wrangler HP AW) or tyres of the same general specification.
The earlier tyre pressure of 26 PSI was supersede in about 1998, where slip of paper with the revised pressure was inserted into the owners handbook.
After 2001 the handbook was updated to show 30 PSI for all conditions, as well as including a few other changes that took place for the 2001 MY vehicles.
