I'm not happy with my current cheap brake pipe flaring kit, and fancy treating myself to something a bit better. Does anyone know whether the Fl1 uses DIN or SAE brake pipe flares, please?

youll find that when you buy fittings/kit it does both 3/16 and 4.75 din or sae

As the youngest F1 now is 14 years old brake pipe changes are going to become more frequently questioned.

How about a sticky please for the info in the links above??
I wrote it but still refer to it at times!!
Thanks..

Perfect, thanks everyone!

As with Andy's second thread, I'm worried about that happening on mine if I give the ABS a hard time for any reason. The previous owner has had two of the pipes from the ABS unit, running back under the car, replaced in copper, which I've never been terribly comfortable with, because it has lousy fatigue resistance and I don't want a failure like in Andy's second post. My current flaring tool is one of these ****ty things:

which produces some kind of vague, undersized and misshapen "blob" on the end of a piece of copper that is neither DIN nor SAE. I want to replace the copper with Kunifer and put some proper flares on the end. I had been thinking of something like this:

but might just have to spend the extra on one that does both (or buy one of each of the cheaper one. Looks like the same price. I also could do with using it on my 30 year old Alfa (which certainly uses metric fittings, but again, I'm not sure about the flares).

Andy, in your first link, you mentioned the FL1 uses both metric and DIN flares. I don't suppose you remember whereabouts each is used?

So the Din single or bubble flare is used in all places except where you connect to a rubber hose. The hose has a convex fitting and so needs an sae double flare. The tool I got is fab and does both. Fittings are 10mm but note the difference in fittings to suit the sae or din. Also there are 2 larger fittings on the abs unit. Reuse the old ones if you can. Just 2 from memory.
