2001 v6 auto.
Yesterday was a new moon so my Freelander started to play up again. 1st to 2nd gear change was really bad. Then lost all drive in forward gears. Reverse was ok. Thought it was something to do with the auto oil level I set last week, but found out it was the wire loom connector not locking together. Must have been like this since the auto was replaced 2.5 years ago. When the connectors separate it can’t control the auto solenoids or reads the sensors etc.
Pictures below show the connector. I’ve put some hose clips round each end so I’ve got something for a tie wrap to hold onto, to keep them pushed together. The barrel still turns round to lock, but does not lock tight for some reason. Not sure if it’s the connecter on the wire loom to the auto, or the harness up to the computer at fault. Either way it’s a lot of money to replace one of these.
fixx
Can anyone suggest a better way to secure the connector together?

Smaller connector is the same style as the one I need to secure.
