Facelift Headlight Security Kit

I'm not going to wait much longer to see what these guards are like before I go ahead with my own.

Mine are down the same route as a CROOKLOCK or PEDAL CLAW as in you fit them to the vehicle when it is lefy overnight. They are a sort of bonnet that comes down about 4 inches from the the top of the light. The lower edge is contoured to allow the headlights to shine through so they could be left on in an emergency.
The top of the guard goes back to a base plate that is bolted to top of the slam panel just behind the light finisher. To fit, you simply pop the bonnet, locate the guard over fixed plate, ( haven't decided whether to use a lose pin or wing nut to secure it ), and close the bonnet. The inside of the guard would have a felt liner to stop scratching.
I would also consider serrating the bottom edge to make it hard on prying fingers.
Lights WOULD NOT be able to be removed without tge bonnet being open, ( this would set of the alarm ), only downside is if someone really had a go at trying to bend the guards up, it would trash the the bonnet and maybe the slam panel.

Evening gents, Haven't been on for a bit and have just caught up with the replies to the thread.
To clear up a couple of points, My heading states.... Headlight Security Kit..... It does not state Headlight Anti theft kit. My kit is designed to upgrade the way the standard headlight is fitted to the car... I am not going to say on here how they are fitted as standard as you disco 2 facelift owners will already know. The theory is to make it harder for the thieves to remove the headlights. With my kit fitted, part of the kit eliminates the normal access point where the headlight is at its most vulnerable. The kit also contains additional fixings for the headlight and some strengthener plates.
At the end of the day, so to speak, if they really want them, then nothing will put them off. They will just take the car with a flat bed wagon fitted with a Hiab while you are fast asleep.
I have designed the kit as a deterrant, to reduce the chance of theft and make it a lot harder for them to get the headlights out. To make them think twice.
Lastly for Neil, it will take less than 5 minutes extra in time to remove the headlight with my kit fitted.
I know it is a pain the way we have to remove the grille and complete headlight unit to change a light bulb but that is the way that Land Rover designed it. So we just have to make the best of it.

Great but you really need to show folk what they are getting for their money.you wouldnt buy something without seelng it and some explanation of what it does and how it works.i understand your worried someone will copy your idea but once you have sold one then the risk of copying is ten fold.

Does all the above mean Anyone who has a disc lock fitted can sue if tbeir landy gets nicked.

I know what you are saying cambridge. You will appreciate that the thieves who are taking the headlights are not daft, they are getting their info on how to get the lights out from some where, it could be here,other landrover sites,google, youtube, anywhere. I will PM you this afternoon with a full set of pictures and an explanation of the kit,what it entails, how it is fitted.

Looks good that. How you tested it? Have you seen the threads by defendoor when he had a product for fenders?

I have decided to keep all other photographs to myself and all other details of the kit to myself.

Ok thats fair enough will have to look elsewhere for security.

the locks on your van are not stated as an anti theft device if they were then yes not fit for purpose,nobody sold you the van stating the metal was burglar proof if they did then you would have a case.

Cambridgecockney you would not have bought the kit off me anyways as if you read the statement above, which you posted, you do not want something to slow them down. If you want absolute security so there is no risk of them being stolen remove them every night.
