Well after having my headlights stolen and seeing how easily they were ripped out. I got my mechanical engineering head on and have designed an upgrade kit which once the prototypes have been tweaked and fitted to my car. It will be write the whole lot up and patent it.

Sorry to hear you had your lights nicked but good for you to make something positive from it. I wish I had the brains to do that.

When you do get it going pm me as I would be interested in it.

Once I have all of the legal stuff sorted and patents sorted, I will give you a heads up when the release date will be and where you will be able to get them from.

Well discovery 2 facelift headlight security kit coming along a treat. Off to steel shop and then a bit of fabrication and should be ready for first fitting friday morning. Prototypes fitted well and not an ugly headlight grille insight.

I wasn't being funny mate, sorry if it came across that way. What I was trying to say was..... I saw how quickly they ripped the pair of mine out , so I have sat and thought seriously about how this type of theft can be stopped or made as difficult as possible

I have never had any problems with mine being stolen I find parking as close as possible to the wall means they cannot get them out

Yeah, but your method of headlight security does appear to have one very minor flaw which you might not be aware of .... some of us don't carry a large brick wall around with us to park against

Project just about finished now. Have emailed landrover to see if they would be interested in the kit or be interested in giving it landrover upgrade approval. No specific details have been divulged to landrover, have asked for a meeting to discuss it. It I do not get a reply, it will be produce the kit myself with patent pending status.

Having read many of the threads on this forum, I wouldn't hold my breath over contact with LR.

And anyway, for them to endorse any modification in this area might mean them having to admit that they are aware that a problem exists. You and I know that there's a problem, but if LR admits it then it could leave them open to all sorts of financial considerations.

I wish you good luck with the design of your modification.

Thanks for the reply Brian. I am not holding my breath for a reply from landrover. I could always pitch the idea to britpart or bearmach.

Any update on your security kit yet.

He's made it but doesn't want to share it with his fellow Discovery owners for fear one of them might make something similar. Meanwhile, another 20 facelift D2,s have had thier headlights stolen.

I had a great idea for a set of light guards for the facelift D2 and was hanging off to see what tgese were going to be like, but I think I'll just go ahead with them as 2 mire of my mates up north have just had thiers nicked.
