Engine Upgrade? Tdi? Worth It?

Don't think an engine upgrade is such a good idea given your age & fuel consumption issues. Even an oldie like me would have to stump up plenty more for insurance.

Well with 6 years no claims being 26 I'm still paying £560 insurance all mods declared. Adrian Flux wouldn't insure my neice on my landy due to 200Tdi and the other mods not until she was 25 not for all the money in the world.

agreed adrain flux wanted 3700 to insure me on my 200tdi 90 at 18 with a years no claims:mad:

As an aside, is there something wrong with the OP's keyboard? I find it tricky to understand what is being said when quite a large number of letters appear to be missing from their posts.

Oh, and yes, before you say it - I am old. Which explains why I can spell. :)

aye cheers im up for that. where are you?

and where are you sourcing your 200tdi? And yes your right there soo uch better tha the average saxo ahah me and y ates love it

I'm in Kent unfortunately, bit far away!

I'm buying an old rusted out 200 tdi Disco in the next 2 weeks, going to rip the engine out of that and stick it straight in. Ya need a few bits and bobs, but you can do the whole lot for about £500-600.

my 300tdi 110 costa me 350 a year with nfu. i'm 25 with 8 years no claims.
nfu are pretty lax about landy stuff and presume none of them have the original engine anyway!

sorry im on a netbook the keyboards small and does not pick up all letters keyed in. sorry

Risk-chav racer or inexperienced and distracted by mates

chav racer um in a defender they dont go :p distracted by mates only have two seats in mine:D, agree with you inexpierenced but i did pass plus made no difference what so ever was told i would save 30% did i, did i **** robbing c**ts but you tell me why a young women insurance is like 40% cheaper?

Because thats life....if you look at the statistics young men in your age group are more likely to have an accident.

Whether this justifies the HUGE insurance quotes is another matter...

Good luck with your defender...if i was you i'd keep the N/A a couple of years, get your no claims started, get to know how landys work, take it apart, rebuild bits, then after that get a 200tdi...

Have to agree on keeping it standard, unless you like parting with large amounts of money on insurance. Glad im an oldie too, some frightening insurance quotes there.
Rememmber if you do change the engine or anything else for that matter to tell your insurance co, as if you dont you will NOT be insured.
