Hi need help again, when I park in Staines town centre I get engine disabled but have not had the problem anywhere else. I am running with rf antenna disconnected and using key in door to lock and unlock as have had battery drain issues in the past and have had no probs in months until we went shopping in staines and this has happened on all three occasions.

New RF receiver is on the cards. Obviously something in there is giving off a strong signal and scrambling it.

Fit a new type RF receiver. It's been covered many times, eventually your door locks will burn out.

Never been the same since Unilever developed in 1965, the most powerful washing powder ever created. And it took the Staines out of Middlesex. :D:D

Thanks guys for the info and if I had my way I would not go to any shops as I can buy all I need online. As for the locks burning out they have never worked since I bought the thing so it looks like a new rf receiver and both front lock motors, any idea on the costs?

Are you sitting down and not of a nervous disposition? Don't know without looking up but RF receivers (IF you can get one) are going for over £200.00 + at dealers, that for three quids worth of parts. Door locks around £100.00 apiece.

If your motor is pre 2000 and your locks don't work then disconnect the r/f completely. Last locks I bought were £125 each and I believe the latest r/f is around £300, but as already posted they are hard to get. Regards and Happy New Year

Year is irrelevant, latest RF receiver did not come out until after production stopped. It should have been a factory recall, Land rover knew about it but only changed them on a complaint by complaint basis. You should find reference to that in service bulletins.

Thank you all so much for your knowledge and advise, I paid £1650 for this p38 back in april and the head blew apart on the run home from where I got it then so I fitted a second hand lump that I bought for £450 then the Viscose coupling failed so another bill £280 and a day fitting that and replacing the propshaft ujs as with all the Land Rovers I have had you have to love them but if I could do away with the central locking and immobiliser I would,

Re the year, Keith posted that pre 2000 were not a problem, you could have a problem after that MY. I was only passing on information that I was given. Guess we have no redress against L/Rover now :D Happy New Year
