hi all, i was hoping someone might be able to help me with finding a good reliable specialist that deals with the bcm's on range rover p38's! my headlights and my heaters have gone awall, and obviosly thats not realy the best thing to go wrong on a car, but iv been told there is a guy in dorking near me thats realy good! does anyone know who this guy is and if so do you have a contact number? i would realy appriciate the help at the moment and if anyone knows of anyone else please do share! thankyou guys! :D

+1 to rick the pick, the guy in Dorking probably just forwards them to Rick.
You sure it's the BECM? Often these problems are due to the under bonnet fuse box, check for signs & smells of burning.
Is the carpet in the drivers footwell wet by any chance?

Rick had a tirade on here a while ago about someone else who tries to repair BECMs. Apparently he is a shark so be careful where you send it to. Deal only with Rick if you have any sense.:);)

okay, thankyou very much for these posts i will go with rick then, does anyone have contact details, and the problem is the headlights, they have a mind of thair own, and i have been told this is a common probolem, also the heaters only blow to the screen and did work properly for a few weeks and then it got layed up again and they now only blow on the screen again but need someone else to determine weather it is this, the foot well is bone dry and sometimes the lights are fine and not a probolem, and i have soaked the bcm with duck oil, and taken the connectors out, connector cleaned them and then soaked in duck oil! thankyou very much for the replys! Tom.

Duck oil:eek: You need contact cleaner. Your problems may still not be the BECM, as I said, check the under bonnet fuse box and cables.

My BECM can normally be revived with eye of newt and toe of frog.

Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting are reserved for the Volvo.

thankyou for the link ap90 will be ringing him soon as its just passed the mot so all good for another year!! yay! yea duck oil, its like wd40, but more of a lubricant than maintanance fluid! whats wrong with using it, worked wonders on my mate pug that wouldent start in the morning, sprayed his ecu with it, not soacked it, and no issue! fixed! its brilliant stuff! i used contact cleaner on all connections, then soacked them in duck oil after! didnt submerge the ecu in duck oil completely, but sprayed some over it and the connectors! i did google him but couldent actuly find anything! but there is soo many people out there claiming they can fix them but i dont fncy sending my priceless box off goodies with all the info about my car to some monkey that dont know what he is doing, and if i never got it back id be screwed so i want some one that knows his stuff! thankyou anyways! tom. :D

You will need to replace the fuse box, that may be all the problem. Make sure you get the correct replacement, there are about 5 different versions according to year and engine type.

oh yes !!!!! and better start carrying a large ??? very very large fire extinguisher , !!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: mozz

okay, will do, and yes duck oil all gone and cleaned off, i wasnt going to leave it like that, just wanted to get rid of any possible moisture and then get rid witch i did today, took all connectors out and contact cleanered them again and no issues, but yes will be carrying a fire extinguisher, but its not a bad bad smell just every now and then! but they dont seem to be much money so will replace as soon as, but cant seem to see the headlight fuse under there anywhere, might just be me being blind! and the headlight washers run constant so the fuse is now in the tool box! haha! but thankyou soo much for all your help and advise its been great! tom. :D
