Hello all, I tried to be above board, honest and a good girl. So I told the DVLA about the changes I've made to my 1989 Defender 90.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me where on the vehicle, I'd find the serial/ID numbers for:
Axels (Front & Back)
Transmission
Steering Assembly
Suspension (Front & Back

They've already had photos and stuff but i didnt think i had to fill this form in as it hasn't been a rebuild.
Sick of my life.
Thank you for reading and if you can help me.

Yes, that was a mistake ......

There are no serial numbers on the axles
There are no serial numbers on the suspension
There are no serial numbers on the steering.

The gearboxes do have serial numbers ... https://www.shop4autoparts.net/tech...ation-including-LT77-Gearbox-vs-R380-Gearbox/

What changes did you tell them you have made ?

hello, thank you for answering me. I've literally took the roof off, painted it black and done some cosmetic work. but the chassis, framework etc hasnt been touched. Ive found some numbers on my steering and transmission, but i'm stumped on how to fill out the form. Dvla already have photos of the before and after but still want a rebuild form done, even though i havent done that.

Here's their number .... 0300 790 6802
There is also a 'web chat' .. https://contact.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles
I have had a look at the form. ( https://assets.publishing.service.g...attachment_data/file/278783/V627X1_270913.pdf )
I would be tempted to put the current registration number in the "origin" column, with LR as the make of vehicle component. leave the Serial/ID number column blank and fill in your details (inc phone number) and send the form in.
I would think that you will get a phone call reasonably quickly to ask why you are submitting this form when you havent changed the car substantially.

Again I would be wondering how you even started down this route?
I have changed my engine & body type but it never went any further than just sending through the amendment and receiving the new logbook back.

By the way, there are serial numbers on the axles (stamped onto the tubes) but I don't think I have never seen then recorded anywhere other than in my own records.
